We have been ripping, stripping and plywood planking boats for almost 40 years now.  If you include backyard builds with Dad, then 50.

We are  focused on producing boat plans canoe plans, and sensible boat and canoe kits for the home builder. In the past 25 years, we have helped thousands of people all over the world reach their goal of building their own boat. Our primary focus here has been people powered boats such as canoes, kayaks, rowing or pulling boats and at any give time you will see 2 or 3 of them under construction in our shop. However, we also have designs for powered craft.

On this site, you will see a lot of pictures sent in from around the globe. From as far away as Korea and France to someone probably within just a few miles of you. These are all people just like you. Building your own boat is easier than you may think, and we will do whatever we can to help you enjoy the journey.

Our canoe plans vary from decked double paddle canoes to traditional open water canoes. We have plans for lakes, rivers and even a few that will serve you well in the harbors along the coast. Every week we get pictures from another new boat builder. We try to be very descriptive in our boat plans listings, however you can always call or email if you have any questions. We are absolutely here to help.

Sandy Point Boat Works, also produces DVD's for the home boat builder and canoe builder. To date, we have DVD's to build Whitehall boats from plans as well as DVD's for building decked canoes, Rob Roy style canoes and of course the traditional lake and river canoe. These boat building DVD's are all professionally produced with studio lighting, professional cameras and audio equipment. However, more importantly, they are done with over 30 years of boat building experience. You can be assured that the knowledge we pass along in our DVD's comes from years of building experience and an active shop trying new techniques all the time.

In addition to the boat plans and canoe plans, and boat building DVD's, you will find epoxy kits, special canoe router bits, fiberglass cloth and many of the other tools and supplies you need to complete your project.
We are particularly proud of our kits. We strive to supply the best quality products we can at the most reasonable price. We do not do things to make the price artificially low, knowing you will have to come back for more supplies. Our goal is to make your boat building journey as enjoyable as possible.
