Blackstone Solo Kayak Plans

Like all of the Blackstone family, this kayak is designed for recreational paddling, possessing easing curves, fine entry and exit and a well defined keel line allowing it to the to track well.

The cockpit is wide and long allowing for easy entry and exit, and there is ample opportunity for stowage both forward and rear of the cockpit.

The Blackstone 12' to the right, has a hatch behind the cockpit with a bungee web forward of the cockpit, however there are many options which you are encouraged to consider that may better meet your needs.

If you have never built one of our kayaks before, you will most definitely need the DVD set. This 3 DVD, 7 1/2 hour video series covers every detail of the build from initial setup to the final fit and finish. We have put 30 years of stripping experience in this set.  Canoe building has little in common with kayak building.  Though not difficult to build, there are many more parts to a kayak.

All of our kayak plans come with full size patterns for all of the forms as well as full size patterns for hull and deck cradles and of course the plans sheets.  We offer everything from full kits to individual supplies for all of our wood strip boats.  Below you will find options for what we call our "Build Your Own Kit" kit.  If you plan on milling your own wood strips, then simply choose the router bits right for your particular router with either 1/4" or 1/2" shank along with the prepackaged fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin and application tools.
