Sundowner Tandem Kayak Plans

We think that the Sundowner is the pinnacle of a family friendly kayak. While it certainly paddles well, it is stable enough to take along the family dog, a cooler or even sit a little one in between the two paddlers. The long wide open cockpit allows paddlers to move around (with a little care), to get to fishing gear, or into the cooler for a drink.

If you have a family outing in mind for an afternoon or a week long excursion in the back country, you will find this kayak a great fit.

Like all of our tandem kayaks, the Sundowner is intended to have a foot controlled rudder and foot braces for the forward paddler as well.

Our kayak building DVD will cover every step of the building process. The series is a 3 DVD set and is packed with 30 years experience. If you have never built one of our kayaks before, the DVD should be considered a necessity.

All of our kayak plans come with full size patterns for all of the forms as well as full size patterns for hull and deck cradles and of course the plans sheets. We offer everything from full kits to individual supplies for all of our wood strip boats. Below you will find options for what we call our "Build Your Own Kit" kit. If you plan on milling your own wood strips, then simply choose the router bits right for your particular router with either 1/4" or 1/2" shank along with the prepackaged fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin and application tools.
