The Traveler is a bit longer and narrower than the Blackstone offering more stowage and greater speed as well as more leg room for taller paddlers.
Like the Blackstone, it is a very comfortable and stable kayak, and though it performs very well, it would still be classified as a recreational kayak because of the beam and wide open cockpit.
Recreational kayaks are, for most people, better suited for things like fishing, kayak camping or just a slow comfortable day on the water. The Traveler Kayak is a great compromise for those looking for performance, but aren't interested in the longer, slimmer touring kayaks.
The Traveler Kayak shown to the right is outfitted with paddle clips, and our high back seats as well as a set of foot braces. The fore deck and aft deck offer ample room for hatches and enough stowage for enough gear for an extended trip on the back woods.
Our kayak building DVD will cover every step of the building process. The series is a 3 DVD set and is packed with 30 years experience. If you have never built one of our kayaks before, the DVD should be considered a necessity.
All of our kayak plans come with full size patterns for all of the forms as well as full size patterns for hull and deck cradles and of course the plans sheets. We offer everything from full kits to individual supplies for all of our wood strip boats. Below you will find options for what we call our "Build Your Own Kit" kit. If you plan on milling your own wood strips, then simply choose the router bits right for your particular router with either 1/4" or 1/2" shank along with the prepackaged fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin and application tools.
The options are offered separately on the site, however, we offer special discounts when they are all bundled at the same time as the plans, patterns and Video. Of course if you would like a full or partial kit for this boat, we would love to send you one. You can the find the Traveler Kayak Kit in our Kayak Kit section.
